NOAA-funded research in the Caribbean is using the underwater sounds of reef fish, such as groupers, to identify areas where they gather to spawn - a behavior that makes the fish easier to catch and susceptible to overfishing. The research may lead to more precise measures to protect spawning locations and thereby allow a depleted fish population to rebuild.

OCSearchSome were beginning to say this would be the first expedition the lift wouldn't see a shark. More than a week into the expedition, the crew of the OCEARCH was running out of time and options.

They were continually changing locations, moving from one location to another scouting several different areas in the Contender. The crew even examined Mary Lee's track, hoping it would lead them to a successful location.
